Wurayna — Biography / About Us
Who We Are
Wurayna is a community-based, volunteer-led nonprofit founded by members of St. George Church. We accompany people through life’s most vulnerable moments—visiting patients, attending funerals and offering condolences to families, supporting people experiencing homelessness and those in shelters, and mobilizing neighbors around practical social services.
Mission
To serve with dignity and compassion—bringing presence, practical support, and community connection to anyone facing illness, loss, homelessness, or social hardship.
Vision
A city where no one suffers alone, every family is supported in grief, and every neighbor has a pathway to safety, stability, and belonging.
Our Story
Wurayna began as a small ministry of care: parishioners from St. George Church who regularly visited the sick, stood beside grieving families, and organized food and clothing drives. As needs grew beyond parish walls, the group formalized as Wurayna, a non-denominational, community-serving organization that partners with faith communities, shelters, hospitals, and local agencies to reach more people with timely, compassionate help.
